The Uganda Foundation for Suicide Prevention is a non-political, non-religious and non-profit
making umbrella organisation. UFSP was formed in 2011 to prevent suicide in Uganda through education and advocacy.
The Foundation is a charitable organisation registered by the government of Uganda and its the only suicide prevention organisation in Uganda.
We provide confidential support and advice to Youth and elderly people struggling with thoughts of suicide.

OBJECTIVES
Firstly to explore the use of two research methodologies, retrospective review of patient records and the psychological autopsy methodology. In suicide research in Uganda.
Secondly, to investigate the characteristics and correlates of urban suicide in Uganda results.
CONCLUSION
The main factor predisposing people to suicide behavior is mental disorder 90% and of these
depression is the most common accounting for about 70%
The rest of the cases of suicide behavior are due to general stress, difficulties in daily life,
including interpersonal problems in marriage and relationship.
Economic difficulties, unemployment, poor housing in cities and rural areas.
Conditions such as heart failure, HIV/AIDs and other debilitating illness like cancer.
In Northern Uganda, suicide is reasonably linked to the post war conditions internally displaced persons in camps.
Uganda traditionally beliefs indicate that suicide is due to the wrong that victims or members of the victims clan might have committed that it is the spirits of the dead that lead suicide person to kill themselves.
The most widely used method for prevention or control of suicide behavior is medication and
talk therapy (psychotherapy) counseling.
